Trauma Informed Yoga – Learning to Teach With Compassion

Trauma Informed Yoga has become a bit of a catch phrase but it’s meaning and application, when understood, are profound. This is not so much a style of teaching offered to specific population but an approach to teaching that is equally rooted in neuro-science, psychology and yoga philosophy. The Trauma Informed approach should underlie all of our yoga offerings be they vigorous Vinyasa classes or mellow Restorative ones. Trauma Informed teaching is not the same as Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) although the Trauma Informed approach has grown under the influence of TCTSY.

Please note that this training can be taken independently or as part of our 300 hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training Program. For more information on taking this module as part of our 300 hour program please email april@lostnfoundyoga.com.

Join Registered Social Worker Nicole Postma MSW, RSW, TCTSY-F as she unpacks the tenets of this approach and supports you in the process of integrating these into your yoga teaching. Please note that upon completion of this program, participants are NOT qualified to offer yoga as a treatment for trauma or other mental health issues. This training is to provide trainees with knowledge and tools to make their classes more supportive to their students.
