Reformer Pilates
What is Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates is a game-changer in the world of fitness, and it all started with Joseph Pilates himself! During World War I, Joseph designed the Reformer—a bed-like machine—specifically to help soldiers confined to their beds exercise and rehabilitate injuries.
Fast forward to today, and the Reformer is still an amazing piece of equipment that takes your Pilates practice to a whole new level. While mat-based Pilates is fantastic for building strength, the Reformer adds a unique twist. It helps you develop strength and mobility in ways that mat Pilates might not. Often, with mat Pilates and other exercises, you might unknowingly rely on muscles you're already used to, which can lead to imbalances and potential injuries.
The Reformer, however, offers incredibly nuanced feedback, making you more aware of which muscles you're engaging (or not). This means you can target and strengthen those tricky muscles more effectively, enhancing your overall strength and mobility in a way that’s just not as accessible on the mat. So, if you’re looking to up your Pilates game and tune into your body’s needs, the Reformer might be your new best friend!
