The Sacred Flow of Pregnancy – Learning to Teach Pre-Natal Students

Course Description

Anyone who teaches and works with women at any stage of their life cycle will benefit from the knowledge shared in this program. Students will learn a variety of modifications and support tools to assist students with mobility issues and varying body landscapes.

  • The syllabus is integrative in its focus and includes optimal alignment in yoga postures, changes to the body systems during pregnancy, labour and delivery, specific therapeutic and strengthening movement techniques, adaptive yoga techniques, breathing tools, trauma-sensitive practices, energetic alignment and embodiment, anatomy, and meditation techniques for birth preparation and labour.
  • Clinical insights from pelvic floor physiotherapy about changes during pregnancy, labour and beyond.
  • Practical communication and teaching skills with detailed and clear feedback from classmates and teachers. These include student-led presentations, and teaching practice designed to build your confidence and find your most effective teaching style.
  • How to access the most up-to-date scientific research around pregnancy, birth, and movement to deliver accurate information to your clients. Learn to develop critical thinking about pregnancy and birth.
  • Develop a referral network of professionals to assist you in providing holistic and integrative treatment to pregnant women and clearly understand your scope of practice as a movement teacher.

Dates and Details

This 20 hour program is registered with the Yoga Alliance and is eliglbe YACEP credits.

Friday evening will run 6-9 pm, Saturday and Sunday will run 9am-5pm with a one hour lunch break.

  • Changes to the cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, hormonal system in pregnancy
  • Pelvic Anatomy
  • Exercise guidelines for pregnancy
  • Adapting regular classes to pregnant students
  • Sun salutations for pregnancy
  • Modifications, enhancements and contraindications for classical yoga postures
  • Pregnancy specific strengthening and mobility exercises
  • Restorative yoga, meditation and breath practices for pregnancy

After April 1st – $475+hst

About Nicky Poole

Nicky Poole, E-RYT 500 and registered YACEP provider is a highly sought-after Pre- and Post-Natal specialist in Toronto who facilitates training that weaves together science and soul.

Nicky is a graduate of Shiva Rea’s renowned Prana Flow teacher training program and has been studying closely with her since 2006.    The roots of all my asana teachings flow along the veins of this lineage.   Alongside this, I have completed thousands of hours of studying the practice of Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Restorative, Yin, Therapeutics, Anatomy, Philosophy and many other disciplines. I have a passion for teaching Pre- and Post-Natal yoga, and support my clients as a Birth Doula.
